The redesign of Taylor’s rosewood/spruce 700 Series brings a shift from Sitka spruce to Lutz spruce tops. Together with other refinements to the internal design architecture such as revamped Performance bracing, players can expect a bold and dynamic voice that balances Indian rosewood’s complex overtone richness with a fundamental focus that packs plenty of sonic punch. The 714e features our best-selling Grand Auditorium body style, which accommodates a versatile range of playing styles, from fingerstyle to medium strumming. The updated aesthetic blends roots-rich vintage character with Taylor’s impeccable modern craftsmanship, incorporating fine wood details like Hawaiian koa binding, a herringbone-style rosette of Douglas fir with maple/black accents, and bias-cut Douglas fir top trim, along with a “weathered brown” pickguard design with a pattern reminiscent of leather. The guitar also sports Taylor’s proprietary Expression System® 2 pickup and preamp for a reliably great amplified acoustic sound.
